Princess Alexia of the Netherlands was born on June 26, 2005, in Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague, Netherlands. She is the second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. As a member of the Dutch royal family, Princess Alexia is currently second in the line of succession to the Dutch throne, after her older sister, Princess Catharina-Amalia.

Alexia studied at the Openbaar Lyceum Zeist in the Netherlands and started her high school education in August 2021 at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales.
